Đến một nơi / sự kiện

Bài 10
N ni kimasu
Đến một nơi / sự kiện Coming to a place or event

Động từ きます nghĩa là “đến”.

The verb きます means “to come”. The pattern N に きます is used for coming to school, to someone’s home, to the hospital, to a party, or to another place/event that is the reference point in the conversation.

Learners often mix up きます and いきます. Use きます when the movement is seen as “coming here / coming to the place that serves as the reference point in the conversation”.

Ví dụ / Examples

Ngày mai anh Tanaka sẽ đến trường.

Mr. Tanaka is coming to school tomorrow.

Joy is coming to the art museum next week.

Thứ Bảy bạn tôi sẽ đến nhà.

My friend is coming to my house on Saturday.

Nhiều người sẽ đến bữa tiệc.

Many people are coming to the party.

Tôi đến bệnh viện vào thứ Năm.

I come to the hospital on Thursday.

If you are at the destination or treating it as the center of the conversation, きます often sounds more natural than いきます.
