Bài 4

Tuổi: ... tuổi / mấy tuổi?

Bài 4
N wa … sai desu / nansai desu ka / ikutsu
Tuổi: ... tuổi / mấy tuổi? Age: ... years old / how old?

To say an age, put ~さい after the number: 5さい, 7さい. To ask, you can say なんさい です か or いくつ です か.

なんさい directly means “how old?”, while いくつ is a softer general way to ask and is very common with children: この こ は いくつ です か.

Vietnamese speakers often say only the number, but in Japanese it is better to keep the full polite frame ~

Ví dụ / Examples

Em trai tôi 7 tuổi.

My younger brother is seven years old.

Em gái tôi 5 tuổi.

My younger sister is five years old.

Đứa trẻ 6 tuổi.

The child is six years old.

Con của anh/chị mấy tuổi?

How old is your child?

Em bé này mấy tuổi?

How old is this child?

When talking about another person's family, forms like おこさん sound more polite than very direct wording.
